A Legacy of Wisdom: Honoring Dr. Halim “Oz” Ozkaptan

Books by Oz is more than just a name—it’s a tribute to the man who first sparked the idea and inspired the name of this business: Dr. Halim Ozkaptan, affectionately known as Dr. Oz.

Born in 1930 to immigrant parents from Turkey, Halim Ozkaptan’s life was rooted in curiosity, resilience, and lifelong learning. He earned a master’s degree in engineering and a doctorate in psychology, going on to work with government contractors to explore the relationship between people and machines—like designing cockpits that made intuitive sense for pilots, or understanding how to motivate a soldier in the field.

In retirement, he began a second career as an author, writing thoughtful and philosophical works exploring religion, spirituality, the human experience, and personal growth. His published works reflect a lifetime of inquiry, insight, and compassion.

His values—clarity, integrity, and the pursuit of meaningful work—are woven into the foundation of this business. This page is shared in his memory.

His Philosophy

“We are spiritual beings living a mortal life and are reflections of God’s love and spirit.”

Dr. Ozkaptan believed the soul is a gift from God—our moral compass, the source of love, and the driver of our growth. Consciousness, in his view, was our creative life force sparked by the soul. And spirituality was the bridge between the two—a reflection of our soul through the way we live, love, and treat others.

His work often explored how free will and character shape our lives and how our spiritual connections with others guide us through joy, challenge, and transformation.
